A Medicine Ball a Day Keeps the Doctor Away
Think a medicine ball, or as some people call it, an exercise ball, can help shape your body? Hell ya! it's a great piece of equipment to add to your
physical fitness
arsenal; it's also one of the oldest. You can work your core, legs, and upper body, and build overall strength and explosive power as well. You can find various weights, usually from 2lbs to 25lbs, some with handles, and some without.
Building core strength can be as simple as bouncing it like a basketball and engaging your core muscles as you do so. You can even build a whole workout around this one piece of equipment: imagine that, a ball! At my training center,
www.leriken.com
we have a 45 minute conditioning class and the only piece of equipment we use is...you guessed it. You can modify just about any
bodyweight exercises,
from abdominal (stomach exercises),
push-ups
leg, back, upper body--even circuit training can be spiced up with this one piece of equipment. It's important to understand--and if I've said once I've said a 1000 times--any new training routine or equipment that is introduced to your training regiment should be viewed as a piece to the puzzle. No one thing should be viewed as the be all end all, and that includes this. The more tools you have in your physical fitness tool box the more you can vary your workouts. The more you vary your workouts, the more interesting and fun your workouts are. And guess what? The higher your chances are of sticking with it.
