What are the Minor Components of Physical Fitness, and do they matter? Yes! Although they're not as well known as the Major Components of Physical Fitness, they are important. We all rely to some degree on these components, which are also referred to the components of performance-based fitness. Can-Fit-Pro has provided the following definitions: • Balance- Refers to the ability to hold a specific body position either stationary or moving (dynamic). • Coordination-Refers to the ability to use your body parts together in a smooth and fluid manner. • Agility-Refers to the ability to change directions without killing yourself. • Reaction Time- Refers to the amount of time it takes to react to stimulus. • Speed- Refers to rapid movement, also know as velocity. • Power- Refers to the product of strength and speed, also know as explosive strength. • Mental Capability-Refers to both the ability to concentrate during exercise to improve training effects as well as the ability to relax. 
Even though the

are considered the most important, and those listed above are more important to the serious athlete, no training regiment today can be complete without addressing these secondary components. The fitness and medical community now realizes how crucial the minor components are for the completion of our every day tasks. If you've been training for a while and have above average overall fitness and core strength you can really take your training to another level by improving all the components.
